Best Dog Parks in Jacksonville, FL
Does anyone else’s dog freak out when they hear the words “outside”, “walk”, or “park”? Mine does! She absolutely loves those words. If you’re tired of taking your dog on the same walk around your neighborhood, maybe it’s time to check out some dog parks!
Dog parks are a great way to allow your dog to explore their surroundings in a safe, enclosed environment and to socialize with other dogs. Jacksonville has a lot of great dog parks to choose from, but here are out top five:
1. Dog Wood Park
Dog Wood Park is a 42 acre, completely fenced in dog park. There are several different sections including a small dog only area, a dog only lake for swimming, and hiking area for you and your dog. There is a fee to enter Dog Wood Park which you can see on their website, but if you’re looking to take your pup there frequently, you can sign up for a membership.
These 144 acres are home to many different attractions for the family. There are picnic tables, hiking trails, a skate park, a dog park, and more. This park is perfect for a family to go to since there are activities for the kids to do as well. Bring a soccer ball or a baseball and play some sports while you’re there.
3. Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park
This park, while not off leash, offers a water park, freshwater lake, hiking and biking trails, and beach area for you and your pup. It is across 450 acres of land. There is a small fee for admission which you can find out more about on their website.
